NEW ARENA MEXICO

TENSION

Keyword in the conceptual proposal to solve the structure of the large span roof (120 m) for the 'New Arena Mexico'.

The design arises from the main components of wrestling: the wrestlers and the ring. The relationship between the wrestlers during their performance in the ring, as a set of ACTIONS and REACTIONS between two bodies that complement each other to shape the spectacle of wrestling. While the formal abstraction of the ring components are reflected in the design of the project's structure: Steel tubes in its four corners that are integrated together to form the base; with tensioners to which the ropes that surround its perimeter are hooked.

Thus, the structure of the 'New Arena Mexico' is made up of fixed elements connected to tension with mobile elements, forming a system that naturally produces OPPOSITE FORCES; but far from representing a negative aspect, it generates a perfect relationship between its elements in the structure, in such a way that it complements each other, achieving stability.

The project has 3 main spaces:

1. New Arena Mexico: parking lot, dressing rooms, warehouses, bleachers area, restrooms, first aid, official stores, sales stands, food and beverage sales, exhibition area.

2. School and Museum of Wrestling.

3. Exterior Urban Intervention.
